llms.txt is a plain text file that sits at the top of your website, at /llms.txt, next to robots.txt. It gives AI tools like ChatGPT, Claude and Perplexity a short summary of who you are and a list of your most important pages, with one line about each.
The format was proposed at llmstxt.org in 2024. It is written in Markdown so people and machines can both read it.

How to upload llms.txt
Shopify
Shopify can't host a file at the top folder. Upload it under Content, Files, then add a URL redirect from /llms.txt to that file's address.
Wix and Squarespace
Neither lets you upload a file to the top folder today. Wix makes an automatic one. On Squarespace, put the file behind a Cloudflare Worker, or ask Rank Any Site to serve it for you.
Any other host
Put llms.txt in the same folder as your home page and robots.txt. Then open yourdomain.com/llms.txt and check you see plain text, not a web page.
